Limitless Living Blog #64 - Franchise

Franchise

I'm assuming most of you know this, but for those who don't. The Chicago Bulls were a powerhouse in the NBA during the 1990s. They drafted Michael Jordan in 1984. After drafting him, they quickly realized he was the best person on the team by far. Not only that, but he assumed the position of the best player in the entire NBA by everyone. Why am I saying all of this? Because he still needed a team to win a championship. My name is Scotty and welcome to the 64th Limitless Living Blog post. Thanks for tuning in.

There are two parts to this equation. Part one, Some think you need other people in your life to be special, but that's not true. Part two is that some think they can do it all on their own without any help, but that's not true either. Let me explain.

#1: “You’re not special unless you have a great team around you.” AKA, if you have no one around helping, you're not worth anything. That's far from the truth. God made you talented before you met anyone. Let’s make that abundantly clear. When Michael was drafted in '84, his team was one of the worst teams in the NBA, yet he shined. The league had never seen someone fly that high, with hang time and finesse. No, he didn't win any championships with that current team in the 80’s, but he was still dominating the league. He was special and was easily becoming the best in the world to ever touch a basketball. His first MVP even came in the 80s. So apparently, he didn’t need anyone to stand out. If you know anything about basketball, you knew how special he was. Endorsements, his own brand/Nike deal, the man was a star. According to Google, he has made over 1.3 billion dollars from the partnership since signing with Nike back in 1984. So this is becoming more apparent, he's talented whether his team is good or not. Winning, however, is a different story for MJ.

#2: “Thinking you can do it all alone with no help.” AKA, arrogant.  This is a downfall for many. They believe in their head that they need no help, and they're just that good at life. Michael was under this impression, in my opinion during the 80s. Ball hogging, not passing to teammates, and thinking he can score so much, that the Bulls would end up winning. This was not the case. They never won a championship in the '80s despite how amazing he was as a player. It wasn’t until the Bulls drafted Scottie Pippen and traded a couple of players. After that, they won six championships in the 90s. So if you want to truly succeed in life, you do need other players around you. You need mentors, you need advisors. You need a phenomenal coach, showing you the ropes. All of this does not happen without Phil Jackson, their head coach. All six championships came through him. Life is a team game.
