You Are Who You Hang Around
I'm finding out the more I live life, how true this is. Secondhand smoke is real. If you're around someone who smokes daily, you're lungs are getting hurt by the smoke. Even if you're not the one smoking. Same with success, net worth, healthy marriage, and being a better parent. “You’re net worth is the average of the 5 closest people you hang around.” This is true. I've been around hard workers who are intelligent with finances, and I've been around those who are lazy and have poor money management. The more I hang out with these individuals, I start to adopt their motives. Same with me being a better husband. I have mentors I'm close to, who succeed in this area of life. I'm around them, I'm a better husband. It’s a very simple concept. My name is Scotty and welcome to the 44th blog post here on the Limitless Living Blog. Thanks for tuning in.
Why is this important? The Bible even mentions hanging around people. “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”
Proverbs 13:20 NLT
It cannot be any clearer. So if we pan back and look at who we hang around, we shouldn't be shocked to see we've picked up someone’s habits and traits. Good or bad. So do an inventory on your closest friends and even family. Make sure you're associating with people who align with your goals/vision.
