Get your Eyes Off of You
The older I get, the more I realize life is about those around you, rather than you. “And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’””
Acts of the Apostles 20:35 NLT
When I end up giving time, money, whatever is needed away, I feel more joy than when I receive something. I have felt it time and time again. I’ve tried the other way, and there’s not as much joy. Not even close. My name is Scotty and welcome to the 18th blog post here on the Limitless Living Blog.
Get your eyes off of you. Does this mean you do not self assess or practice self worth anymore? Absolutely not. But what I am saying, from personal experience, is focus on others. The Bible is so clear about putting others before yourself. Jesus Himself did this on the cross. He set the perfect example of how to in this world. It almost seems like when I bless others, I get blessed back. Not from the same people I blessed, but either from God or someone random. It’s the craziest thing. I guess it’s an example of, “you reap what you sow.” If I sow into someone, someone will sow into me.
Regardless, when we take our eyes off of ourselves and onto others, we’re doing what we were made to do. It’s fulfilling. It’s gratifying. It’s amazing! Do not get me wrong, I love when someone sows time or knowledge into me. I struggle, I make mistakes. I need mentors in my life, as do you. But when I get equipped and go serve someone with the information I have received, that feels better. (This Blog is a prime example). I love writing this and hearing feedback from you all. Thank you.
Process:
1. Figure out what mentors/humans can sow into you to get what you need.
2. In turn, go bless someone with that knowledge you are now equipped with.
3. Give glory to God!
