Wash the Dishes
Scotty, what do you mean “Wash the Dishes?” Have you ever left your dirty dishes in the sink, and wait until they pile up? I have for sure, and sometimes still do. Embarrassing but true. Can we take care of the small dishes now and later, it be easier? Of course it would. We need to take responsibility for the small things before they pile up, and now you have two loads of dishes that’s going to take an hour to complete. My name is Scotty and this is our 12th blog post here on the Limitless Living Blog. Thanks for tuning in.
Wash the dishes! If you have some level of responsibilities, you have to take responsibility. We can’t have one and not the other, because they’re congruent. If God gave us a car, we have to get the oil changed. (I’m not the best at this example, so I need to improve). My level of maturity in the responsible realm could improve in many areas. The cars we have were a prime example. I’m not perfect at getting the oil change, washing them, etc. However, I’ve leaned something about this word called responsibility. One crazy thing about taking full ownership, is you gain control in your life. You no longer give access to any other human for your success. When you say “it’s my fault” and change your mindset, you now become the owner in your own life. So we have to stop blaming others for our own faults. God gives us responsibilities for a reason. We have to steward them well for Him to trust us with more. ““If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”
Luke 16:10 NLT
Since we’re on this car example, let’s continue on. We cannot ask God for a Mercedes Benz while we aren’t taking care of our Ford. That doesn’t make sense! You can’t ask God for a mansion and we’re not taking care of our apartment. Looking at my life writing this, I can confidently admit, I need to hear this for myself. I hope this encourages you all to be more responsible. God is so good, He knows you would fumble your blessing in your current state of maturity. One time, I seen a Facebook video that said, “If you were truly ready for the blessing you’re praying for, wouldn’t God give it to you by now?” That hit me hard. I thought to myself, that’s exactly right. So the blessings I’m praying for, He knows when and where to give them to me. I don’t call the timing shots, He does. He runs the scoreboard and clock in this game called life.
Process:
1. Figure out, in life, where you need to level up your responsibility meter.
2. Do not blame others for your own mistakes.
3. Pray to God that He’d allow us to become more responsible, so we can be trusted with more.
