Limitless Living Blog #11 - Bigger than Bills

Bigger than Bills

I can’t tell a lie, I feel called to speak about money. I must confess, I told God I wasn’t going to. He said I was going to teach on it. We wrestled back and forth, and finally I gave in. (We all knew who was winning that battle). So here we are, speaking on money. My name is Scotty and this is our 11th post here on the Limitless Living Blog. Thanks for tuning in.

As I keep getting older, I am realizing that life is more than paying bills. I see many humans just go to their job they hate, pay their bills, not much left over and repeat. It’s their life for 35-40 years. I never understood that. Am I better than that? Absolutely not. I’ve worked many jobs where I would walk into the building and my stomachs turning. I hated some jobs that much. I’ve worked at fast food chains, sales jobs, my wife and I owning our own company. I’ve worked many places. I’ve come to learn, however, when you walk in a wealth mindset in life, you move different. You see how you can give to others. You see how many people you can bless that day. What I am saying is, focus on more than just bills. Focus on how you can invest, grow, build a wealth mindset.

There is no excuse, (I’m going to use myself for this example) that Scotty shouldn’t have multiple streams of income. Or, at the bare minimum, working on multiple streams of income. When you put stress on your one income, it causes stress in other areas of life. If you have your house, cars, insurance, food, everything in life riding on one income, of course that’s stressful. But if you have 5-7 streams coming in monthly or yearly, if one fails, you have 4-6 more still coming in. How is this many streams possible? Working with your mind, not your hands. After 2020 especially, I think we all need to learn your income can be stripped from you quickly. We can’t pray to God that He transforms us into a millionaire, but then not give Him any room to operate. So do not limit yourself or God. You give Him room to operate, He will. I have to show God I have faith in multiple streams of income by trying, at minimum. I need to show God, I’m serious about taking care of His people. In order for me to do that, I need resources. A lot of them. In order for me to give my family a certain lifestyle, I need resources. In order for me to write a big check to my church, I need resources.

You can’t become wealthy with a poverty plan. That’s like going to gym, to purposely be out of shape. It doesn’t align at all. Either admit to yourself you want to become wealthy, or not. Once you’re honest with yourself, just align your mind with that goal. Not everyone wants to be wealthy, that’s fine. I’m not mad at them. But we need to be truthful with ourselves. If you’re double minded, you will drive yourself nuts. A lot of us say we want to be wealthy, but our mindset does not match that word. I’ve been there, and done that. Nothing good came from it. So just have an honest conversation with the man in the mirror.

Process:

  1. Figure out, honestly, where you want your finances to be at.
  2. Align your work ethic and dreams according to number 1.
  3. Prove to God your faith.
